Carrier Monkey

In honor of my current status as the incubus of viral plague, you too can catch the plague or whatever the hell I have with this plush little frenemy. And if you don't have the plague, perhaps you have:

Little boy blue isn't nearly as dramatic as his more ominous cousins:

Ebola!

Typhoid!
Mad Cow!

Believe me, there's a plushie for whatever ails you (including this ... YIKES).

Dwell On This

Zebra rug (this is going to sell out quickly, mark my words!)

Giraffe blankie

Wall decals

Target has done it again, this time snagging fabulous Dwell to design bedding. First up is a line of baby linens, soon to be followed with bedding and other homewares. And I'm just sayin, that zebra rug ain't just for babies!

Happy Chic Tuesday: Reflections

Good morning sunshine! Thank you for abandoning the pottery wheel, Liberace, Simon, the Parker and ping pong long enough to dream up this happiness for the wall. Not many people realize that your horizons expand well beyond the menagerie, and the jars, and the vessels. Of course I do, and that's all that counts, right?

What a Card!

Yeah, yeah, it's a box of cards. You're like, BFD. WhatEVER. But wait! This is a box of cards for every occasion under the sun! Birthdays, whoop-di-dos, gracias, mom and pop days, so sorry, so happy, feel better, happy holidays, and even ones where you can fill in the blank space with a sentiment all your own (or cross out what you don't like and fill in the blank). Even the classless among us (okay, just me) will be properly equipped, Emily Post style, yo.

Revenge

Now if only I could figure out which place to hang it ...

Obsession of the Week: Bags On Sale

Okay so really, it's an obsession of my very existence. Anyhoo ...

Patience is truly the secret to obtaining a phat bag for a deal of the enviable kind. I'm not talking about waiting for some friends and family baloney or a paltry 30% markdown. I'm talking about end of the season, out with the old and in with the new heave ho that every single store of any worth experiences twice a year. Kids, we are currently smack dab in the middle of this fire sale! This year, we have a little cherry atop that sundae thanks the fearless leader of the free world and his ding dong economics. That's right, the recession has really hit retailers of luxury goods hard and right about this time is when we should all be taking advantage of that. Now pay attention:

Are you kidding me with this? Check out this Miu Miu chevron quilted leather tote, which originally retailed for the staggering $1,195. Now seriously kids, that kind of ridiculosity has no business around TMASE but that bag shur iz purty. And I bet those suckers who bought it in September are kicking themselves now because this bag is now $538. Still pricey, but a steal no less.

Contestant number two is a Marc by Marc Jacobs turn lock tote. What? You say Marc Jacobs could not possibly be in your price range? Guess again fools! This number originally sold for $428. But Bergdorf's is having a bad year, so it's yours for $193.

A little more fashion forward is this Botkier Crosby Hobo, surely big enough to haul around all of your crap in addition to small woodland creatures. And that sassy wheat color is perfect for spring. $348 down from $695.

Even better is this Anna Corinna black glazed carry around, which is a perfect complement to all black patent leather goodies that you see pimped around this spring. You can rock this number for $270, down from $540.

And hello, what do we have here? A sweet, spring like number by Bulga sure to make your girlfriends and strangers alike shoot green daggers of envy out of their eyesockets. Load up your bucket with 368 clams, as opposed to the original 735, and it's yours. And then you can fend off the masses with those leather tassels. Or do something else with them ... but people, keep that to yourselves!

There are plenty others in our midst, in every price range. If you find something good, you better tell me about it! Happy hunting!

Happy Chic Tuesday: For the Masses

Welcome to Happy Chic Tuesday! Oh who the hell am I kidding -- it's Happy Chic around TMASE 24/7/52/365(6). And thus, I present this:

Available at your local Barnes & Noble, Happy Chic has gone mass market once again with a line of pencils, folders, leather bound journals, notecards, pencil cases, and photo albums. And good for the noble Jonathan Adler, given that he been the subject of an increasing -- and disturbing -- number of blatant ripoffs (and not in the "imitation is the sincerest form of flattery kind"). My home office is gonna look fly!

Obsession of the Week: Ebay

All hail the garage sale of the internet! During any given week, I have at least 10 items that I am watching at any given time. I'm not necessarily interested in buying any of these items, but for some reason, I am interested to know what said item is going for on literally the most open of all markets. From time to time, I do pull the trigger on something fabulous. And that's usually because the item is either (1) brand spankin new and substantially discounted from the retail price; (2) discontinued and no longer available despite the obsessive scouring of the innernets; (3) a reminder of my childhood; or (4) retro/vintage/antiquey/one of a kind. Here are some examples of each:

1. Jonathan Adler banana plate

2. Anya Hindmarch poodle tote bag

3, George Bush Sr./Dan Quayle dog toy

4. Walter Bosse elephant

And frankly, you can make a small fortune unloading your crap on ebay too!

Clear Skies

Hello beach girl that looks somewhat like me minus the hideous striped bikini! Thank you so much for carrying all of my sunning accouterments, including but not limited to the following: snacks, spf 15 for my face, spf 8 for my body, spf 4 for my body once I establish a base, flip flops, sarong, bottle of water, bottle of something to drink other than water, more snacks, mobile phone, lip balm, trashy magazines of the gossip kind, erudite reading material for when I get sick of the trashy magazines of the gossip kind, sunglasses, alternate sunglasses so as not to establish unsightly tan lines on my face, more snacks, hat (maybe), towel(s), ipod, ipod shuffle, more snacks, and anything else I can possibly stuff into your clear, roomy goodness. See you 'round the pool!

Vintage Find of the Day

Three Cheers!

Ye Olde Barn's cousin West Elm has some new goodies! These blown glass characters are relatively cheap knock offs of the higher priced designer collectibles that I spied in the lofty Palm Springs vintage stores lining Highway 111. Same look, lower price, everyone wins! Rah Rah Sis Boom Bah!
