Yes Please

HOT.

But It's A Hardware Store

What the hell is going on at Restoration Hardware?! My jaw dropped and I started drooling when saw their new offerings.

I. Want. It. ALL.

And then when I saw the prices.

And then my eyes actually rolled right out of my head.

Seriously, in this economy? Seriously? I still love all of it though.

Natescaping

I'm a fan of Oprah and her design hottie Nate Berkus. He's sweet, cute and can transform a garbage dump into a liveable and workable space. Mr. Hottie Boombalottie has also followed in the marketing footsteps of the Grande Dame O with a line of home goods available at HSN. His latest venture is a series of groupings labeled as "tablescapes" and "mantlescapes." I get this concept -- people should throw out their junk, pare down their belongings, and group them together in interesting and visually pleasing ways. And if you don't know where to start, or have no interesting or visually pleasing tchotchkes, why, Mr. Nate Fabulous has done the work for you. With mixed success:

The "Athens" four piece tablescape is probably the best of the bunch. That little bowl is cast iron with a nice patina and that wool basket is downright believable. The frame is well-tailored and the brass box provides a nice contrast to the more ethnic/rustic bowl and box.

Here is the "Westchester" tablescape, which I'm sure is supposed to sweep you to some traditional colonial estate in the hinterlands of Connecticut. That orange is probably supposed to hearken a Hermes image, which is better than the shelter magazine trick of stacking a bunch of orange cardboard boxes on top of each other in a "look what I bought" sort of way. Love that little box, but the gold frame looks cheap.

This is the "Bali" tablescape. In theory, the mixture of sizes, textures and colors might work, but these just look too cheap to me. Plus, that candle is ... questionable.

This is a five piece "mantlescape" which is a nice combination of height and texture. I'm fond of the candlesticks and the finial but not so much the vase. The handcarved Indian wood plate is so out of place that I would be tempted to use it as a frisbee.

So what do you think? Do we keep Nate on the island or vote him off? Ponder that over the weekend!

Cutting Crew

It's my Mini Me's 6th birthday! And lucky her, with such close proximity to the commencement of the school year and the introduction of fall clothes, the kid gets a brand spankin new wardrobe! If we could all be so lucky ...

If I had my druthers, and an unlimited budget, I would have gone hog wild at J. Crew:

So happy birthday to my Hipster Prepster!

It's All In The Presentation

I love these chic serving bowls by Colin Cowie for HSN. You read that right!

Seussify Your World

My buddy in awesome Sheila alerted me to these fantaistic, Seusserific furniture. This stuff is wild and fun and entertaining and frankly, perfect for a kid (if your kid happens to be awesome ... like mine!).

There is no better place to store a Seusserific collection of stories!
Yertle the Turtle can hide in this cabinet.
Oh the things you can think if you only had this hutch.
One bottle, two bottles, red bottles, white bottles in this wine rack! Yeah, adults can be crazy too.

She Was A Showgirl

Here's a better picture of Lola:

It's cute overload here on TMASE today! But as you can see, Lola needs a new collar. Check out these goodies to wrap around her black, curlyfur goodness!

SuperLola! Check out awesome, girly superhero collar and lead set.

Now how cute are these cupcake collars?

Colie loves all things owls, so why not indoctrinate Lola as well?!

It may be a little too Pepto, but this pink leather collar with star charm is perfect for a showgirl like Lola!

And if all else fails, just bedazzle her.

I get to meet Lola next week. Yay me! Don't tell Colie, but I might steal her!

Her Name Was Lola

Where's Colie? Well, she's off being a mom. To Lola:

How cute is she?! Lola is a puppy minature poodle and she is all that. Lola, however, has an unfortunate collar and bed situation that we must remedy. And because Lola is every bit the showgirl, let's deck her out in style. And none of this CASh nonsense! First up, the beds.

Look! A doodle bed for her little Lola-doodle!

Lola is a very, very good dog! Or at least if we keep telling her that, she'll believe it.

Oh seriously, how cute is this little bones bed?

Pink is her signature color!

The most famous mid-century modern pooch in the world, Liberace, lives on this Happy Chic dog bed. If it's good enough for him, it's good enough for Lola.

Later today: The Collars!
